HOUSE TOUR: HOME OFFICE

WHO PAINTS THEIR OFFICE PINK? ME! I AM SHARING ALL OF THE DETAILS OF THE SPACE WHERE I DO MY BEST WORK.

After spending the better part of a year sharing office space in the formal living room with my hubby, I am so excited to share my new home office. As someone who works from home about half of her time, I wanted a space that felt special, a little sparkly and of course productive.

COLOUR

If you know me, you know my colours are gold, navy and white. These have been my colours ever since high school, into university (where I actually painted my student house in thick blue and white stripes, ah!), and even for my wedding. But, when it came to my office this time around I needed something different. Our nursery and laundry room had already stolen this colour scheme and I wanted a bit of diversity in the house.

So, in came "millennial pink" or Dulux's Winter Wedding. When my mother saw the first coat she thought it was almost pure white, but once the trim was painted and all of the accessories came in, this shade could not be more perfect. It is soft and warm (and not as beige as it looks on the computer screen). We used the Lifemaster paints throughout our home because there are no VOCs (and practically no smell!).

SPECIAL TOUCHES

About eight years ago, my great-aunt and grandmother gave me these teacups and saucers that I have always admired. These women were not known for luxury items since they grew up in the Great Depression, so these items always stood out in my childhood as extra special. This shelf from JYSK was a last-minute purchase when I found out how pricey tea/saucer display units can be online. I am super pleased with the place they have now in our home now.

WORDS TO LIVE BY

Every work space needs a bit of inspiration and this mini gallery wall is directly across from my desk to give me just that. I had about eight more pieces to go on this feature wall, but my husband talked me out of hanging up every piece I own and truthfully, I like how the pieces we chose stand out more on their own now.

The gold and black prints are custom designed and really affordable from Sprinkle of Sparkle on Etsy (a local Canadian shop too!). The pink wall canvas was a clearance item from the Chapter Indigo home section this past summer, but I always keep my eye on this store for great home pieces on sale.
